Genesis 41:41,42,44 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I now make you governor over all of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh gave his special ring to Joseph. The royal seal was on this ring … I am Pharaoh, the king over everyone in Egypt, but no one else in Egypt can lift a hand or move a foot unless you say he can.”

Have you ever considered the possibility that through all your hardships, God is preparing you for something extraordinary? Perhaps that’s difficult to wrap your mind around while the going’s tough, but that does seem to be His habit.

Joseph is one of the giants of the Old Testament. His brothers were so jealous of him that they set about killing him. In the end though, they sold him into slavery instead.

Taken in chains to Egypt, he suffered the ignominy of being falsely accused of rape and languishing in prison for years. But every time life threw injustice and cruelty at him, Joseph just kept on doing good; kept on diligently using his natural gifts and abilities.

And, as the saying goes, the cream always rises to the top. The people around him saw his skill and his goodness … and God saw it too. He was preparing Joseph for an extraordinary destiny because one day …

Genesis 41:41,44 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I now make you governor over all of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh gave his special ring to Joseph. The royal seal was on this ring … I am Pharaoh, the king over everyone in Egypt, but no one else in Egypt can lift a hand or move a foot unless you say he can.”

C.S. Lewis makes the point that hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny. Okay, so perhaps you won’t become Prime Minister of Egypt, but let me tell you, your best is yet to come.

In the face of all that life throws at you, just keep on doing good because God may well be getting you ready for something extraordinary.

That’s His Word. Fresh … for you … today.
